Chord Overstreet Remembers Cory Monteith: "The Greatest Dude You'd Ever Met"

Chord Overstreet Remembers Cory Monteith: "The Greatest Dude You'd Ever Met, Chord Overstreet may have performed a show earlier today in L.A., but Cory Monteith was certainly on his mind.

Not only did he dedicate an original song to the late Glee star, but also castmates Kevin McHale, Dianna Agron and Jenna Ushkowitz came to cheer him on.

"He was the greatest dude you'd ever met," Overstreet exclusively told me after his hour-long set at The Roxy on the Sunset Strip. "Never met anyone who said anything bad about him."

In light of Monteith's death, production on Glee's fifth season has been pushed from July 29 until late August, the show's cocreator Ryan Murphy told E! News, and elaborated in a lengthy, exclusive interview.

"We're all going thought it," Overstreet said. "Everybody loved him…I spent more time with him than I have with anyone in my family in the last three or four years…We're a family."

Monteith was found dead in a Vancouver hotel room on July 13. Autopsy and toxicity results showed that the actor died of a drug overdose with heroin and alcohol found in his body.

"This was an overdose and a tragic accident," Vancouver Police Department spokesman Brian Montague said at a press conference following the release of the autopsy findings. Monteith was reportedly cremated in Vancouver.

"Lea is deeply grateful for all the love and support she's received from family, friends, and fans," reps for Monteith's girlfriend Lea Michele said in a statement on Tuesday. "Since Cory's passing, Lea has been grieving alongside his family and making appropriate arrangements with them.

They are supporting each other as they endure this profound loss together. We continue to ask the media to respect the privacy of Lea and Cory's family."

A memorial service for the cast and crew is being planned for next week on the Paramount Lot in Hollywood.
Overstreet's Roxy gig was the first time he performed live with a band. He hopes he made Monteith proud.
"If he's out there watching," he said, "I would want him to look down and give me a high five."
