Jean-Claude Juncker: Spy scandal forces Luxembourgh PM to resign, A spy scandal has broken the government hand of Luxembourg's Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker, who has had no choice but to resign. Fox News reported on July 10, 2013, that Juncker's junior coalition partner blamed him for failing to stop power abuse by the secret service, and it was just too much.

I will convene the government tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. (0800 GMT) and will go to the Palace to suggest snap elections to the Grand duke," Juncker told parliament.

The assembly was reviewing a report on the illegal bugging of politicians by the security agency. It also was looking into the purchase of vehicles for private use and allegations that it took both favors and cash payments in exchange for access to local officials.

At the end of the report, it was also stated that Jean-Claude Juncker had limited control over the security agency even though he was the responsible minister. He then failed to inform anyone in parliament about the actions.

Juncker had previously denied any allegations that he abused the secret service, but those same allegations appear to have gotten to him. He still denies any wrongdoing.

Jean-Claude Juncker has been the prime minister of Luxembourg since 1995.
