Meredith vieira talk show, NBCUniversal announced Tuesday that Meredith Vieira, formerly of "Today" and "The View," will host her own daytime talk show starting in the fall of 2014, the New York Times reported."The Meredith Vieira Show" is already garnering comparisons to Katie Couric's less-than-spectacular daytime effort, "Katie." According to the Times, industry watchers believe that "Katie," beset by management problems and low ratings, is on its way out, and that Meredith Vieira could replace her.
"All of us at NBCU are so excited about this new show with Meredith," said NBC Broadcasting Chair Ted Harbert said in a statement, via The Hollywood Reporter.
"She creates an instant connection with audiences with her smart, quick-witted and down-to-earth style. This entertaining and substantive show will be a great way to reach her loyal daytime fans as well as new ones who will discover why Meredith is one of America's most loved television personalities," he added.
“Each day, I hope to accomplish what I call the three H's: Heat, Heart and Humor,” Vieira said of the opportunity. “And speaking of the heart, I want to thank my husband, Richard, and kids, Ben, Gabe and Lily for strongly encouraging me to take this incredible opportunity… or else they really just want to get me out of the house.”
